The Seeded Team of the 71st National Tournament – A Look into the Past

Well, if you’re a fan of Saki. You know that we are in the National Tournament and will probably stay in this arc for some years to come. *sweatdrop*   In this tournament, there are 4 seeded teams. These teams has a free pass for the first round of the tournament and they are chosen from the finalist in the previous interhigh. In order, the seeded teams are Shiraitodai, Rinkai, Eisui and Senriyama.

Saki Drama CD and its implications

I recently came across an old drama CD. And it has a very interesting snippet about Saki and Teru. Mainly, the track gives us a rough timeline on the events surrounding the family. Though, there is some doubt on its status as canon. (The Drama CD was published before the anime was even shown.) Its still an official release so assuming no retcon, I will try to pierce the sequence of events leading to the rift.

Amae Koromo – The Killer Rabbit of the Moon Part 1

As the first monster we met on the series, Koromo will always have a place in my heart. She was the final boss of last season and I must say she played her part marvelously. But, even if she was last season’s boss,  Koromo still plays an important part in the continuing story – mostly as a measuring stick for other players. But, to have an accurate measuring stick, one must first understand Koromo and how her power work. This post will attempt to explain that.

Saki’s Hax Mahjong Music Part 1 – Miyanaga Theme

Disclaimer: I didn’t upload those video. A big thanks for victorpresti and ventuzas13 for uploading it. Have some internet cookies guys. Anyway on to the post itself.

I don’t know what drew me to Saki since at first glance I thought of it as a pleasant time waster. But, after a few episodes this unassuming anime got my complete devotion. And after a few years and several re-watch of the series later – I still manage to find something new about it that manages to capture me.

The new thing I managed to notice about Saki is the awesome battle music. It may seem a bit generic at first glance but when you go with the context that Saki anime and manga provides – its just perfect.

First, I’ll review the awesome OST of the Miyanaga siblings. They are both very very strong players but their way of playing is drastically different and it reflects on their Monster theme. Second, their character theme is also noticeably very different.
