As we all know, Yamaha is supporting this anime so it make sense to find their instrument in the show. And me being me, decided that I might as well check it out. If they are sufficiently cheap enough I might as well buy it instead of a figure.
And while KyoAni usually give their cast, high tier equipment. I even thought the same before I am corrected. Its surprising but they seemed to have stuck to student tier version that is commonly found in High school bands.
Rewatching this is seriously triggering my yuri glasses. Kumiko is such a hopeless dolt when it comes to Reina. I’m wondering if she developed some sort of serious “crush” on her in their encounter on middle school.
You know like when someone saved you when you tripped, allowing you to see that person in a new light. (like noticing that person’s reliability, strength, kindness, etc.)
Only this time substitute “tripping” with Kumiko’s “careless remark” and the new light that Kumiko showed is how invested and passionate Reina is. Considering how directionless and apathetic Kumiko is especially in the beginning, I think those are traits that she would admire above all.
This is the third in probably six or seven post series exploring the Saki Quarterfinal teams and the Zenkoku anime. And probably my last post regarding Eisui in a while.
But, before we begin.
I would like to ask a question, who thought that Eisui won’t make it to the semi-finals? Because it is certainly not me. ^^
I find myself still a bit grinning at that still. There is just something about having my expectation overturned by a new variable that is sitting there for the whole time ….. which is probably why I love Side B Captain Quarterfinals to bits.
And as I analyze the quarterfinal teams more, I began to have a very big appreciation for the care that Ritz-sensei took even for the losing teams. Even though, Eisui lost you could see that they didn’t lose by being idiots. In this post, we will be exploring Eisui’s strategy. ( which technically meant their roster positioning since Saki Nationals doesn’t allow for position switching, most of the strategy is already decided before the prefecture tournament. ^^ )

This comment along with Asuka’s another one, “you have the look of a Euphonium player,” prompted me to investigate if there are certain predisposition in choosing an instrument.
And heh, what do you know? While we laugh at Hazuki’s gullibility, there are actually a lot of studies that say that certain people would do better in a particular instrument.
I knew those stereotypes came from somewhere. Anyway, I’ve searched about the personalities behind the instrument.
Let’s see how much of that matches, shall we?
So, I’m kind of late to the party, the series is almost halfway finished but better late than never. And hey, if I’m going to be blogging anything about a show in this season better choose the most awesome anime currently airing! ( That claim has nothing to do with my planet-sized positive bias for music *grins*)
I’ll admit though that I’m not really impressed when I first saw the premier episode. Still, I stuck with it and each successive episodes has slowly converted me into a fan.
It helps that the freaking visuals is ridiculous as. Its like movie! anime tier or something.
…. But, enough of my ramblings, let’s get on with the show.
Having some writer’s block on next Eisui post, and while I was talking with my friend about it, we discussed their power ranking.
Mine goes like this: 1. Jindai (?) 2. Kasumi 3. Hatsumi 4. Haru 5. Tomoe
Jindai truthfully hasn’t impressed me yet, but she’s supposedly something like Koromo so I’ll hold my judgement until the individuals and give her the tentative number 1 ranking. The stickler on this list though is the Kasumi and Hatsumi rank.
I’ve watched the current episodes of this show through the urging of a friend and was very pleasantly surprised. So much so that I went and made a video with english subs here.
Since I’m not the most Japanese literate person in the world (understatement), there might be some errors
But, meh, it should be close enough? Heh. The lyrics itself are interesting. Very catchy. I wonder if it has some plot implications, its a bit too early to make any analysis though.
Previously, I’ve taken a stab at guessing what the major tournaments of the manga are here. It looks like I’m mostly right. Most of my mistake is because I renamed the Spring Tournament to “Winter” due to folding it with the Fall Tournament and picking the season in between. Heh.
I’ve rechecked that post and with just a quick name change, it appears everything is alright again. Yey!
Anyway, the latest chapter of Saki has confirmed that there are at least four! major mahjong tournaments for high school students. Seriously, MAHJONG is SERIOUS BUSINESS in this verse.

And there is nothing like the Captain Match going in the manga in order to motivate me into posting Saki stuff.
In the break that Ritz is taking, I’m planning on making a series of posts related to Zenkoku-OST. Mostly because I bought one from Amazon and its kinda the only CD on my car thus I keep hearing it. And since Alex asked me if I would do some newer BGM…. sure why not?
The other reason is because I don’t think I’m going to be doing an episode analysis of the last two episodes. Thus, this will serve as a closure to the Quarterfinals Zenkoku anime so I can move on to other matters. Beside, showing some pretty sweet instrumental; the goal of this planned series of posts would be to give an in-depth look at the teams participating in the Side-B quarterfinals.

When, I had the urge to blog. So sure why not?
If there is one thing I unconditionally love about the Saki, it is their soundtrack. Normally, reading the manga first and then watching the anime makes it feel less thrilling. I have to say that I haven’t felt this on the Saki franchise, simply because the music makes the anime worthwhile. (That and the flashy special effect).
I really believe that the music in Saki should have a special place in a fan’s heart. And this blog post is dedicated to it.
First up is the title character ost of course. ^^
